Personal Chef Services Explained in Detail

A Personal Chef is Often Called a Private Chef, But They are Actually Two Different Entities

"A Personal Chef is actually a caterer with flair."
A Private Chef is an employee and strictly works for an individual or family. On the other hand, a Personal Chef is an owner and operator of their own business.

They generate a client base by offering their culinary expertise and services to individuals and families alike.

The Personal Chef will go into a client’s home, once a week, once every other week, or, even once a month and craft several meals.

Personal Chef Meal Plans

Depending on the client’s schedule and needs, the chef will craft a meal plan for the customer.

A typical example is a 5×4 meal plan. This means, 5 meals for 4 people 5 days a week, which is 20 meals total.

Other examples are a 5×6 meal plan, that is 5 meals for 6 people 5 days a week, 30 meals total or a 5×8 meal plan which adds up to 40 meals per week.

One meal may be set on the table, two meals in the fridge and two meals in the freezer.

The above examples are typical, but it is not unusual for a personal chef to cook for 1 or 2 persons in the same manor.

How Much Does a Personal Chef Cost?

A Personal Chef will charge for their services based on the number of meals they are preparing for the household.

The cost is typically a fee plus groceries. This is because people’s diets vary. Some are strict vegetarians, and some are utter carnivores. Not forgetting gluten free diets, strictly organic diets, healthy diets and doctors’ orders diets.

Personal Chefs offer a number of different meal plans according to the clients wants, needs, dietary restrictions and taste buds. This type of service is probably more affordable than most people might think.

A Personal Chef Can Save You Time

Busy families, with two working parents, know only too well all about the challenge of what to make for dinner every night as well as grocery shopping, and clean up afterwards.

They find themselves resorting to fast food and unhealthy meals.

On the other hand, some people just don’t cook but would love to come home to the smell of a home cooked meal on the stove.

A Personal Chef relieves the burden of all of this and save countless hours of time and labor.

Most families realize once they have a good Personal Chef at their service, they see how valuable the service is and cannot even imagine living without one!

Personal Chef Services

A typical example is, once a week, the Personal Chef arrives at the client’s home with the groceries and prepares a weeks worth of meals in the client’s kitchen.

The date, time, and menu is predetermined, as well as room for food storage in the fridge and freezer. Some Personal Chefs bring their own equipment, some will use the clients pots and pans.

Each meal is packaged in food safe storage containers with the name of the dish, the preparation date, thawing (if frozen) and heating instructions. The icing on the cake is, the Personal Chef also washes the dishes and leaves the kitchen sparkling! The Personal Chef is generally paid a deposit in advance for their services.

The chef will purchase the groceries with that deposit and invoice the client for the remaining fee. The client will usually — if they aren’t home for the cooking date — leave the remainder of the Personal Chef’s payment plus a deposit for the upcoming week. After a while it just becomes a normal part of the household routine.

Some Personal Chefs operate from both the client’s kitchen and a commercial kitchen. They rent a kitchen that has passed all health requirements from a local restaurant owner and prepare the meals there. This is a “Personal Chef Delivery Service.”

There are clients who prefer this. Their kitchen may not be suited to preparing a vast amount of food for various dishes, or, it may not be convenient to use their kitchen for whatever the reason. Note: A health inspection is not required at the client’s home.

Personal Chef Dinner Party Services

Dinner parties are fun to have, except many people don’t want to cook. Especially if you have 10, 15 or even 20 guests on your list.

Caterers are normally hired for occasions like this and they do a good job, but sometimes people want something with a bit more style and elegance with a more personal touch.

The kind that you can get with a top-notch Personal Chef.
This is like the “Major Leagues” of Personal Chefs.

When you hire a Chef of this caliber, you will get a meal of the absolute highest quality that will surpass any restaurant because the meal will be plated, presented and served in a way that rivals some of the finest restaurants in the world.

Not only that, it will be at your own home where you can you linger with your friends, enjoy a bottle of wine or two, or more, for as long as you want. Your Personal Chef will take care of everything.

Sometimes a Personal Chef will offer cooking classes, or cooking parties. They will actually demonstrate various recipes and cooking techniques, and the guests get to sample their creations afterward.

Whether it is for cooking weekly meals for your freezer, celebrating a special occasion, or taking it to the next level with a world class meal, take the opportunity to sit down with the Chef and talk in detail about exactly what kind of menu you would love and any dietary needs a family member has.

A Personal Chef will also have ideas and suggestions to bring to the table with respect to your wants and needs because your Chef it is just that, “Personal.”
